    Important Information about Capcal

Trivector and Trafikverket have jointly decided to discontinue the management and further development of Capcal. A final release of Capcal is planned for early 2026, after which no further development will take place. Existing support agreements will not be renewed from 2026. Read more down below.

The future of Capcal and termination of support agreements

Dear Capcal users and support agreement customers,

In autumn 2025, Trivector informed Trafikverket that there are several challenges associated with continuing the maintenance and development of Capcal. These challenges include increased costs related to code restructuring, higher resource requirements, and the need for a new licensing model. As Trafikverket does not have the financial capacity to fund these efforts, the parties have jointly decided to discontinue the management and development of Capcal.

A final version of Capcal will be released in early 2026, including ongoing development work and bug fixes. All existing license holders will, as before, be able to download and install this version. License holders retain the right to use Capcal in the same way as previously, also after development has ended.

Due to the discontinuation of Capcal, Trivector will no longer sell new Capcal licenses. As support and training have been financed through license sales and support agreements, it will not be possible to maintain support in the same way as before. Consequently, existing support agreements will not be renewed and will terminate as of January first 2026.

If you or your organisation are still interested in support or training related to Capcal, you are welcome to contact us to discuss possible arrangements based on hourly consultancy rates.

    Trafikverket’s future solution

During 2026, Trafikverket will work on a simplified solution for capacity calculations by further developing spreadsheet-based calculation appendices linked to Trafikverket’s methodology for capacity and accessibility analyses in road traffic facilities (MetKap). More information will be published on Trafikverket’s website once the solution is available.
